Internship

For the past couple of weeks, I have been looking for a summer internship. I have never been through this internship process before, so I was pretty confused about what to do at the start. The first step I did was to meet with the professor who deals with all internships. He is pretty much an expert in the field as well. I also met with my academic advisor when scheduling classes and mentioned finding an internship to him as well. It was a pretty stressful process for me. I was a double major in sport management and public relations so technically I had to do two internships to get my two internship credits. After talking to my parents and my public relations professor we decided that it would be best to drop my public relations major and make it a minor. I made this decision because I didn't really enjoy the writing part of public relations, and that is going to be a big part of a public relations job. I just don't really see myself enjoying a job in a PR department. Now that

Homecoming Weekend

This week on campus is homecoming weekend. My email has been flooded with different homecoming events that are going on throughout campus this week. One of these events that are being broadcasted to the ONU campus is a cornhole tournament for the sport management club. For my facilities and event management class, we are tasked with getting 100 teams to compete in this tournament. There is one big problem we have right now. We only have 23 teams signed up, so we have plenty of space to make up. Hopefully, my professor is lenient with his grading because I don't think we are going to make it. Anyways, homecoming is a huge weekend on campus for many groups on campus. Pretty much every sports team is holding special events during this week. Also, I have talked to many sororities and fraternities broadcasting some events that they are putting on.  The football game on Saturday will be the most packed homecoming event on campus as many different groups that were holding these other even

Fall Break

This past weekend and Monday and Tuesday we had a much-needed fall break. Our bye week for football also fell on this weekend so I was able to go home for about four days. It was so good to be home. My brother was home from college, so the whole family was home. Football and school can be very stressful so it was nice to get away from it all for a weekend.  I honestly didn't do anything over this break. It was so nice. At school, I am always on the go and it never stops moving. No matter what day of the week it is, I am always busy and on the run, so it was nice to just relax and not have to worry about doing anything over the break. On Friday, I went to my alma mater's football game. I went to Coldwater High School in Coldwater, OH and we are having a pretty good year. It was nice to go and watch some of my former teammates play so well and to continue to have a good year. We were able to grind out another victory to go 8-0. On Saturday and Sunday, I barely moved. I literally

Dealing with Stress

It is getting to the point in the semester where things are starting to add up. Not only academic-wise but in personal life as well. As you already know, in my previous blog post, I talked about my baseball coach that suddenly passed away. This obviously wasn't very easy on me, as I struggled throughout the week to focus on school and other things. Also, schoolwork has started to amount to me. I have been having exams in some classes that are difficult, that I actually have to study for. Throughout my first 2 years of college, I never had to study for any exams, because my classes just came easy to me. This semester, I am in some more challenging courses that are causing some stress for me. If you are experiencing any type of stress, it is important to acknowledge some mechanisms to help you.  If you are experiencing an extreme amount of stress, there are always campus resources available. Here at ONU, we have a counseling center that will help you if you are in need. Another thin
