Coming to an End

If you are following the football team and our season, you know that this is the season's last week and last game. I am not going to lie, it has been a very long season for us. We are currently 2-7 which is very unfamiliar territory for many players on our team. In high school, I never had a season with more than 3 losses, so this has been relatively different for me.

Even though our record doesn't show it, this has been the closest team that I have been a part of since coming to campus three years ago. In the future, that is what we are all going to remember. We are going to remember the relationships that we formed and that are going to last for the rest of our lives.

Some of the seniors that are graduating have been some of my best friends for the last three years. I actually live with two seniors that are graduating now. As this week has gone on and we continue to do events for senior week, it has gotten to be very emotional. I still don't think it has hit me that some of the friends that I have met along my journey here are going to be gone next year. I have grown so close to them over the last three years and it will be very weird to be without them next year.

We do have one more week and we are going to make the most of it. Our record is obviously not where we want it to be, but we have one more week to finish strong and propel us positively into the offseason. This week is more important than many think because if we finish strong this week, we have some hope for next year and we can springboard ahead.

  2. Noah, I am so sorry your record doesn't show the impact this season has made on you. Through all the teams I played on, I don't remember the records, I remember the memories. The relationships you have built with your teammates are going to last a lifetime. Best of luck this weekend! I hope you and your team finish this season on a high note.

  3. Noah, I always enjoy reading your posts, especially because I relate to them. I feel your pain, and I know how hard it can be. With my senior season starting, it is definitely emotional. It is a big game for you all Saturday and I hope you pull it off!

  4. Noah, I completely understand. As a senior, finishing the end of my first part of the golf year is tough. I only have so many tournaments left and not competing competitively is a weird feeling. Enjoy the rest of the season with your friends!

  5. Noah, I totally get it. Last two years I have been on a struggling squad. This year things have changed due to a positive change in team culture. Having a close team is amazing, those brothers will always have your back on and off the field. I hope next year things are different regarding your record.

Thanksgiving Break

Right about this time in the semester I really fellow students and I really start to get warn out of school. Schoolwork right around this time always heats up. Many of my classes are holding exams this week which puts on added stress with all of my other activities going on. What I really want and what my of my classmates want to come sooner is Thanksgiving Break. I know I am ready for it. Every day I wake up I am exhausted because I was up late doing homework the night before. I am also on football so the time where I could be doing homework and catching up on some sleep, I am at football and devote my time to that. Even though many students are not in athletics I can tell many of them are mentally drained. Many students are starting to not give sufficient effort to homework or exams anymore because they are just tired of it. I know I fall right into that category. These are a couple reasons why I am ready for Thanksgiving break. Having the opportunity to go home for a week and b...

Football is Over

After days of practices, meetings, and games, it hurts to say the 2021 football season has come to a close. I know it hasn't necessarily been one of the better years this program has had but I loved every second of it. There really is nothing like going out with your brothers and playing 60 minutes of football, the game you love the most. If you haven't seen it already we lost in a devastating fashion. We lost on a hail mary ball in the endzone with 8 seconds left after driving down and scoring 30 seconds before that. That was the part that really stung. We, underclassmen, were doing everything in our power to try to send these seniors out on top and it just didn't work out. Now it is time to move on as much as it hurts. I am now a junior football-wise and the preparation for next season starts now. I definitely need to get to work this offseason. Last year we never really had an offseason. Since the Covid year moved everything to the spring we never really had any time of...

Fall Break Fun

This past weekend into early this week was fall break here at ONU. We also had a bye week for football. This gave me the opportunity to go home for the weekend. When I was home I got to spend some valuable time with my friends and family that I haven't seen in over 2 months. It is always good to get the chance to go home and see all the people you missed the most. It was a really relaxing weekend for me. My family and I went out to eat on Friday night and caught some of my old high school football team's game. I also got to hang out with some of my friends and watch a movie with them. On Saturday, all of my friends and I went golfing during the day. I might not be very good at golf, but it was fun to be able to golf and hang out with all of my friends again. After golf, we all went back to my friend's house and watched some football and had a campfire. My favorite nights are when I can just sit around the fire with some of my closest friends and have fun together. Sunday c...
