Cedar Point Sports Center Tour

Today I had the privilege of touring the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, Ohio. When we first got there, we were met with one of their employees who kind of explained the entirety of the building and what we would all be seeing during the day. We started off on the basketball and volleyball courts. In the facility, there is room for 20 volleyball courts and 10 basketball courts. He also mentioned that the court surface itself is NBA grade which means that pros play on the exact same surface that the players play there. He explained some events that they could hold inside the building. He explains how anything from jujitsu to gymnastics competitions has been in that building. There are also local youth programs being held during the week in the facility with travel tournaments being held on the weekends with teams traveling from areas all over. The next thing we saw was "The championship court." This was the coolest part of the tour in my opinion because of the set up of the gym itself. He said there was room for up to 7,000 people to be packed into that small gym where seating is kind of limited I can just imagine the atmosphere in that gym when all the bleachers are packed full of spectators. He also showed us some rock climbing walls and even a Ninja obstacle course that was in the facility. He also explained some money situations with how they handle teams coming in and what money is going where. Lastly, there was a capstone group with us today and their task was to come up with a replacement for the arcade that is in the facility. The proposed solution was a sports bar. Although I am not in capstone, I thought it was interesting to hear all that went into planning a whole new area of the building and what was necessary for it to be successful. Overall, I thought it was a great trip and I am looking forward to more facility tours in the future.

  1. Noah, the CPSC is awesome! I was lucky enough to be there as well and it was a great tour. I am happy that they are my client for capstone. Maybe you'll get them too next year!

Thanksgiving Break

Right about this time in the semester I really fellow students and I really start to get warn out of school. Schoolwork right around this time always heats up. Many of my classes are holding exams this week which puts on added stress with all of my other activities going on. What I really want and what my of my classmates want to come sooner is Thanksgiving Break. I know I am ready for it. Every day I wake up I am exhausted because I was up late doing homework the night before. I am also on football so the time where I could be doing homework and catching up on some sleep, I am at football and devote my time to that. Even though many students are not in athletics I can tell many of them are mentally drained. Many students are starting to not give sufficient effort to homework or exams anymore because they are just tired of it. I know I fall right into that category. These are a couple reasons why I am ready for Thanksgiving break. Having the opportunity to go home for a week and b...

Football is Over

After days of practices, meetings, and games, it hurts to say the 2021 football season has come to a close. I know it hasn't necessarily been one of the better years this program has had but I loved every second of it. There really is nothing like going out with your brothers and playing 60 minutes of football, the game you love the most. If you haven't seen it already we lost in a devastating fashion. We lost on a hail mary ball in the endzone with 8 seconds left after driving down and scoring 30 seconds before that. That was the part that really stung. We, underclassmen, were doing everything in our power to try to send these seniors out on top and it just didn't work out. Now it is time to move on as much as it hurts. I am now a junior football-wise and the preparation for next season starts now. I definitely need to get to work this offseason. Last year we never really had an offseason. Since the Covid year moved everything to the spring we never really had any time of...

Friendsgiving

I had one of the best meals that I have had in a while last night. About twenty of my friends got together and had one big meal before we all went our separate ways for Thanksgiving break. The meal was especially good because it was prepared by one of my friend's mom. In the past, she has come up to campus to make us a home-cooked meal throughout the week and it is always so delicious, so I had very high expectations for this meal. It definitely did not disappoint.  This meal was a full Thanksgiving feast. Any food that you could have wanted on your Thanksgiving table was there. For the last couple of meals, I have been eating at the Wow Café here on campus and I was completely tired of it. So when my friend told me his mom was coming up, I was so excited. Our friend group definitely struggles with finding food to eat sometimes, so it is almost refreshing to not have to find something to eat. I am truly blessed with some of the best friends a guy could ask for. There aren't a l...
