"Dead Week"

As many of you know, this week is considered dead week. I really don't understand the point of calling it a dead week, when it isn't really dead. This week is by far the busiest time of the semester for me. This week is also the most assignments that I have had all semester. I have asked many upperclassmen about the term dead week and they all agree that, that it doesn't exist. In my eyes dead week should be a week dedicated to studying and preparing for final exams. Right now that really isn't happening for me. This week I have been doing many assignments that aren't even going to be on my final exams. In my opinion, I think during "dead week", no classes should be held. I believe that students shouldn't have to attend classes if they don't want to, but have the opportunity to attend office hours to ask questions and have one on one time. This is the most stressful that I have been since starting college because I am trying to distinguish what homework needs to be done while studying for my various finals. Also, many of my classes are holding exams this week and then finals next week which does not make any sense to me. Many people have told me that shouldn't happen during a dead week but it still does. I believe that these various actions could possibly lower my exams scores more than I wish.

  1. Noah, I was actually just telling some of my friends the same thing. They call it a dead week but I have tons of work due this week. Oh well, keep working hard and finish of these last two weeks strong!

Chapter 1 Material

One of the biggest concepts I comprehended out of the content in chapter one of the introduction of social media is the different advantages and disadvantages of social media. I want to focus on the advantages. Some of the advantages of social media include being able to build your brand, communicating with family and friends, and capturing memories. The most important advantage from the chapter for me is being able to connect with family and friends while also collecting memories along the way. Family and friends are two of the biggest components of my life and they always will be. Being away from my family and friends during college can be very stressful. I am very guilty of relying on my mom and dad to do many things for me. Even though I am a sophomore now, I still am trying to adapt and settle in to do things on my own. Even though I struggle at times, the access to social media has given me the opportunity to connect with my family and friends so I feel like I have a little bit o...

Friendsgiving

I had one of the best meals that I have had in a while last night. About twenty of my friends got together and had one big meal before we all went our separate ways for Thanksgiving break. The meal was especially good because it was prepared by one of my friend's mom. In the past, she has come up to campus to make us a home-cooked meal throughout the week and it is always so delicious, so I had very high expectations for this meal. It definitely did not disappoint.  This meal was a full Thanksgiving feast. Any food that you could have wanted on your Thanksgiving table was there. For the last couple of meals, I have been eating at the Wow Café here on campus and I was completely tired of it. So when my friend told me his mom was coming up, I was so excited. Our friend group definitely struggles with finding food to eat sometimes, so it is almost refreshing to not have to find something to eat. I am truly blessed with some of the best friends a guy could ask for. There aren't a l...

PRSSA Meeting

For one of my school assignments, we had to attend an event this week around campus with homecoming. Due to my busy schedule this weekend I chose to attend the PRSSA meeting Thursday night. There were some other events to pick from but with my schedule being very busy this was the only event that I could get to go to. In addition to just attending, we also had to live-tweet this event giving updates with key takeaways from the event. This isn't the most orthodox assignment for a class that I get to do, but it was actually pretty interesting. This PRSSA meeting was all about ethics. September is Ethics Month in this organization so it was only fitting that our meeting would be over ethics and how it ties into public relations. For this event, they brought in a couple of guest speakers. These guest speakers were Ronele Dotson and Jo Ann LeSage Nelson. They talked about different types of crises and walked us through different case studies with what they had to deal with. What I like...
