Being a college student can be very stressful at times. In my opinion, being a college athlete can be even harder. This week has been the most stressful I have been since I have joined college. I have never really had good time management skills, and now juggling football, schoolwork, and my social life is becoming overwhelming. In high school, it was pretty easy for me to play both sports and handle schoolwork because the schoolwork wasn't nearly as time-consuming or challenging. Now the school is obviously becoming more challenging and my time commitment to my sport is increasing. I never really realized how much time I would be spending on either schoolwork or playing football. The only time during the week I have time to myself when I am not working on school or doing something with football is during the weekend or when I am sleeping. I also am not the biggest fan of school in the first place so it can get hard for me to stay motivated and sometimes even show up to class...Even though it gets really busy I still love it. If I didn't love it I wouldn't be on the team or be at this university, but I enjoy it. Sports have been my whole life all while growing up and I am so blessed and grateful to be able to continue my career at the next level while gaining a top-notch education while I'm at it. Like I have mentioned before this obviously doesn't come with challenges. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to play football here and attend this university because it truly is once in a lifetime opportunity.
If you are following the football team and our season, you know that this is the season's last week and last game. I am not going to lie, it has been a very long season for us. We are currently 2-7 which is very unfamiliar territory for many players on our team. In high school, I never had a season with more than 3 losses, so this has been relatively different for me. Even though our record doesn't show it, this has been the closest team that I have been a part of since coming to campus three years ago. In the future, that is what we are all going to remember. We are going to remember the relationships that we formed and that are going to last for the rest of our lives. Some of the seniors that are graduating have been some of my best friends for the last three years. I actually live with two seniors that are graduating now. As this week has gone on and we continue to do events for senior week, it has gotten to be very emotional. I still don't think it has hit me that so
Noah! I agree with you 100% that it's hard to manage school and sports. I've recently struggled with it myself and it's almost harder now that the season is coming to an end. Managing both activities becomes tiring and I feel almost burnt out. However, I wouldn't change it for the world. Even though there are many struggles while playing a sport the rewards are worth it. Having a team to call family and an atmosphere to approach to forget about school is just a slice of the positives of being an athlete. Good Luck with the rest of your season and I hope you have time to relax when it's over!
