The Craziness of a College Athlete

Being a college student can be very stressful at times. In my opinion, being a college athlete can be even harder. This week has been the most stressful I have been since I have joined college. I have never really had good time management skills, and now juggling football, schoolwork, and my social life is becoming overwhelming. In high school, it was pretty easy for me to play both sports and handle schoolwork because the schoolwork wasn't nearly as time-consuming or challenging. Now the school is obviously becoming more challenging and my time commitment to my sport is increasing. I never really realized how much time I would be spending on either schoolwork or playing football. The only time during the week I have time to myself when I am not working on school or doing something with football is during the weekend or when I am sleeping. I also am not the biggest fan of school in the first place so it can get hard for me to stay motivated and sometimes even show up to class...Even though it gets really busy I still love it. If I didn't love it I wouldn't be on the team or be at this university, but I enjoy it. Sports have been my whole life all while growing up and I am so blessed and grateful to be able to continue my career at the next level while gaining a top-notch education while I'm at it. Like I have mentioned before this obviously doesn't come with challenges. Overall, I am very happy with my decision to play football here and attend this university because it truly is once in a lifetime opportunity.

  1. Noah! I agree with you 100% that it's hard to manage school and sports. I've recently struggled with it myself and it's almost harder now that the season is coming to an end. Managing both activities becomes tiring and I feel almost burnt out. However, I wouldn't change it for the world. Even though there are many struggles while playing a sport the rewards are worth it. Having a team to call family and an atmosphere to approach to forget about school is just a slice of the positives of being an athlete. Good Luck with the rest of your season and I hope you have time to relax when it's over!

Thanksgiving Break

Right about this time in the semester I really fellow students and I really start to get warn out of school. Schoolwork right around this time always heats up. Many of my classes are holding exams this week which puts on added stress with all of my other activities going on. What I really want and what my of my classmates want to come sooner is Thanksgiving Break. I know I am ready for it. Every day I wake up I am exhausted because I was up late doing homework the night before. I am also on football so the time where I could be doing homework and catching up on some sleep, I am at football and devote my time to that. Even though many students are not in athletics I can tell many of them are mentally drained. Many students are starting to not give sufficient effort to homework or exams anymore because they are just tired of it. I know I fall right into that category. These are a couple reasons why I am ready for Thanksgiving break. Having the opportunity to go home for a week and b...

Football is Over

After days of practices, meetings, and games, it hurts to say the 2021 football season has come to a close. I know it hasn't necessarily been one of the better years this program has had but I loved every second of it. There really is nothing like going out with your brothers and playing 60 minutes of football, the game you love the most. If you haven't seen it already we lost in a devastating fashion. We lost on a hail mary ball in the endzone with 8 seconds left after driving down and scoring 30 seconds before that. That was the part that really stung. We, underclassmen, were doing everything in our power to try to send these seniors out on top and it just didn't work out. Now it is time to move on as much as it hurts. I am now a junior football-wise and the preparation for next season starts now. I definitely need to get to work this offseason. Last year we never really had an offseason. Since the Covid year moved everything to the spring we never really had any time of...

Friendsgiving

I had one of the best meals that I have had in a while last night. About twenty of my friends got together and had one big meal before we all went our separate ways for Thanksgiving break. The meal was especially good because it was prepared by one of my friend's mom. In the past, she has come up to campus to make us a home-cooked meal throughout the week and it is always so delicious, so I had very high expectations for this meal. It definitely did not disappoint.  This meal was a full Thanksgiving feast. Any food that you could have wanted on your Thanksgiving table was there. For the last couple of meals, I have been eating at the Wow CafĂ© here on campus and I was completely tired of it. So when my friend told me his mom was coming up, I was so excited. Our friend group definitely struggles with finding food to eat sometimes, so it is almost refreshing to not have to find something to eat. I am truly blessed with some of the best friends a guy could ask for. There aren't a l...
