Social Media Campaign

For my Social Media Strategies and Campaigns class, we are tasked with pairing with a client from the local area to help with their social media engagement and awareness. My group was paired with Findlay Auto Plus. This is an auto body repair shop out of Findlay, Ohio of course. A couple of weeks ago a bunch of clients from the surrounding areas came in to pitch their ideas, what their plans were, and what they needed help with. Findlay Auto Plus caught my eye because I really got along with the man who came in to do the presentation. He was a very relatable guy and I thought it would be cool to work with him. Two other classmates and I were then paired with him to help with his business. This really excited me because I have very limited experience working with real clients in the real world. His business does not have any social media platforms so it will be a good experience for my group members and me to dip our toes into the water of social media branding.

We recently met with him via zoom call and calibrated what we wanted out of him and what his expectations were from us. I was very pleased with this meeting because he gave very straightforward answers about what he wanted, which therefore can help us with the plans that we have for his business. I also recently conducted a social media policy individually, which will be sent to him to look over and approve. We are just in the early stages of this project, but I am very excited to work with him and this business to not only help him but to help me gain experience in this field.

  1. Noah, I am excited to work with you on this project. It is a great way to learn valuable information and get hands-on within the social media world. I am looking forward to it!

Chapter 1 Material

One of the biggest concepts I comprehended out of the content in chapter one of the introduction of social media is the different advantages and disadvantages of social media. I want to focus on the advantages. Some of the advantages of social media include being able to build your brand, communicating with family and friends, and capturing memories. The most important advantage from the chapter for me is being able to connect with family and friends while also collecting memories along the way. Family and friends are two of the biggest components of my life and they always will be. Being away from my family and friends during college can be very stressful. I am very guilty of relying on my mom and dad to do many things for me. Even though I am a sophomore now, I still am trying to adapt and settle in to do things on my own. Even though I struggle at times, the access to social media has given me the opportunity to connect with my family and friends so I feel like I have a little bit o...

Friendsgiving

I had one of the best meals that I have had in a while last night. About twenty of my friends got together and had one big meal before we all went our separate ways for Thanksgiving break. The meal was especially good because it was prepared by one of my friend's mom. In the past, she has come up to campus to make us a home-cooked meal throughout the week and it is always so delicious, so I had very high expectations for this meal. It definitely did not disappoint.  This meal was a full Thanksgiving feast. Any food that you could have wanted on your Thanksgiving table was there. For the last couple of meals, I have been eating at the Wow Café here on campus and I was completely tired of it. So when my friend told me his mom was coming up, I was so excited. Our friend group definitely struggles with finding food to eat sometimes, so it is almost refreshing to not have to find something to eat. I am truly blessed with some of the best friends a guy could ask for. There aren't a l...

PRSSA Meeting

For one of my school assignments, we had to attend an event this week around campus with homecoming. Due to my busy schedule this weekend I chose to attend the PRSSA meeting Thursday night. There were some other events to pick from but with my schedule being very busy this was the only event that I could get to go to. In addition to just attending, we also had to live-tweet this event giving updates with key takeaways from the event. This isn't the most orthodox assignment for a class that I get to do, but it was actually pretty interesting. This PRSSA meeting was all about ethics. September is Ethics Month in this organization so it was only fitting that our meeting would be over ethics and how it ties into public relations. For this event, they brought in a couple of guest speakers. These guest speakers were Ronele Dotson and Jo Ann LeSage Nelson. They talked about different types of crises and walked us through different case studies with what they had to deal with. What I like...
